When you work with MetroBabyCards you are working with a real human, an actual graphic designer, nothing is automated and everything is customizable.

Photo Editing: Your children looking their best!
I inspect each photo that comes through and make edits as needed so it looks its absolute best on the design. I adjust color and contrast; convert to sepia or black and white; remove blemishes, flakey baby skin, errant objects, etc; and I crop to get the best fit for the design. I’ve even combined photos taking the best elements from two pictures to get the desired look. If your photo is too grainy, or low resolution or I am not able to make it work, I’ll let you know.

Customization: Anything is possible!
I’ve done it all – changed colors, changed fonts, added additional pictures, removed pictures, created themed cards – adding mermaids, baseballs, soccer balls, footballs, dinosaurs, Chinese symbols, planets, circus elephants, leaping tigers, fish, tiaras, monkeys – and that was just this year! I’ve also worked with many different languages including Greek, French, Spanish, Norwegian and Hebrew.

The best part? All editing and customization is completely FREE!

The big automated mass producing competition do none of this. They let you pick a design, upload your photo and add a limited amount of text. That’s it! No one checks your photo to see if it will print well. No one edits your photo to bring out the color. There’s no one to talk to about changing colors or fonts or phrases. And don’t even think about adding a leaping tiger!

I saw these at the FAO Schwartz during a recent trip to NY. They are so ugly they’re cute. I love them! I must add them to my, I mean, my daughter’s Christmas list.

Ugly Dolls

I probably should have written this introductory post months ago, but I was busy having a brand new baby!

I am the owner and designer of Metro Baby Cards. I started Metro Baby Cards in 2005 right after the birth of my first daughter. Having worked for years as a designer, I couldn’t find anything out there that was just my style, so I designed my own. And Metro Baby Cards was born.

My husband Mountain (yes, that is his real name) and I have 2 girls – a 4 year old named Amelia (sometimes referred to as Metro Baby Girl 1.0) and a 3 month old named Lily (Metro Baby Girl 2.0).

I will be using this space to present new designs, specials, and all things Metro Baby. I will also be writing about random things that catch my interest.
